The river that invigorates and connects – River Danube


The Department of Natural Sciences of the Janus Pannonius Museum invites visitors to the exhibition "About the River Danube through Ages and Periods", which is owned by the Danube Museum of Esztergom. The opening of the travelling exhibition will take place at 1 pm March 28, 2018.  in the museum building 2 Szabadság Street, Pécs.

Open Day at the National University of Public Service


The next Open Day will be held on Wednesday 22 November 2017 at the Faculty of Water Sciences of the National University of Public Service. Trainings will be demonstrated with interesting presentations given by the leaders of the faculty; in addition to attending classes at the Faculty of Hydraulic and Water Management and the Faculty of Water Supply and Environmental Engineering.

World Water Day 2017 „Wastewater? Clear water!”

The fresh water resource of Earth is not inexhaustive, that we have believed. We must much greater attend to protect our environment to take circumtance and limpidity of water. The presence of water determines our days and here in Europe we take it for granted, that drinkwater and water in good quality is always available in sufficient quantities. For this reason we often do not treat it like it deserves. We waste and pollute the surface and sub-surface water too. Almost every lakes and rivers in the world are polluted. The 50 percent of wastewater produced by industry and 25-25 percent of it produced by communal and agricultural sector.

The professionals has been making their voice since decade, that it may have unforeseen consequences if we do not change this behaviour in the near by future. The fate of our life and future generations may depend on it and we need manage the water resource of Earth to how protect and use this essential resource. The United Nations designated 22th March in 1993 as the first World Water Day, it aims to increase people's awareness of the water's importance, as essential natural resources.

Each year this World Water Day drawns attention form different perspectives to the primary importance of water. The future generations must have learned why it is called the treasure of clear water, so the announced calls for tenders were formulated on this topics. No clean water, no drinkwater. No water, no life. It is so simple. The slogen of World Water Day in 2017 is: „Wastewater? Clear water!”

The Danube Museum in Esztergom has played an important role in arrangement of this Day for 13 years, their colleagues has been preparing this national event with General Directorate of Water Management and Water Directorates for several months. The proposals and games consinst of several topics, like clearing of water and management of wastewater. The teachers compile the games and application materials regarding the needs of different age of groups and skill levels are both taken into account, for students from such as pre-school throught the elementary school to the high school as weel as organisations and families can participate on the educational programs.

The smallest ones can start drawing competition again this year, form 12-18 years old participants can compete their knowledge and creativity in the call for proposals named „Plan drainage grate!” in addition we are waiting for students, schools and schoolable children to participate in the Water-quiz online game.

Families, fellowships, organisations and environmental friendly persons can solve the quiz game named „Walk for water!” as well as the call named „Create an advertising film” will be announced, on which any interested can participate irrespective of age.

The online website will be available from 8th February 2017, form which date the calls for proposals and games will be published. Form 15th February 2017 the online quiz games for students will have been held for 3 weeks, which anybody can join online. 

The best creations will be awarded and published on The prize-winners can receive the award at 23th March 2017 in Győr.
