The exhibit room regarding the scope of activities of the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate will open its doors to visitors next year in the Drava Museum Barcs

2020. december 11., péntek 08:08

We hope that the exhibition of the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate will be opened next year with its old relics, tools and modern spectacles of the water management profession on the first floor of the Drava Museum in Barcs.

The objects and documents displayed in the exhibition room demonstrate the planning, measurement, navigation and flood protection tools used in the field of water management from the 1880s to the present day.

One of the main attractions of the exhibition is the digital topographic map, which is an extended reality application on a sand-table. The height of the sand layer is monitored by a sensor; the topographical map of the sand “terrain” is created due to a complex calculation operation and is projected with contour lines and layered with the appropriate colours and shading indicating height in close-to-real-time. In the system, the surface of the sand is examined by a sensor and according to the actual and current surface the position of the contour lines and the topographic coloring are calculated by the computer.

The contour lines and relief coloring are projected onto the surface of the sand.

The walls of the exhibition hall are covered with black and white archive photographs, which were taken during flood defences at River Drava in addition to films, which are projected on a wall-mounted television screen.
