The Stockholm Junior Water Prize was established in 1997 and this prize is the best-known international youth award in the field of water management. On this especial and high-quality competition, which is the part of the the annual World Water Week, is great honor to participate. This year Hrvatske Vode, our Croatian partner organization celebrates its 140th anniversary. The organization was established by Bishop Josip Juraj Strossmayer on 6th September 1876 in Osijek, in order to regulate River Vuka. After the several reorganization of the establishment and the amendment of the law the Water Act was adopted in 2009, which is still in force. Owing to this Act the water management operates within a legal framework in line with EU regulations in the country.

This year in the The Danube Museum of Esztergom can be seen every months different water directorate’s exhibition objects in the Month’s Artwork display case, allowing visitors to learn about the history of water territorial heritage. In September the remembrances of the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate were visited the museum.

To celebrate the World Water Day, the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate together with the Territorial Organizations of the Hungarian Hydrology Society in County Somogy and Baranya call for drawing and photo competition for nursery school, primary school and secondary school students.
The workshop presents the wildlife of the natural waters (mainly lakes and streams) linking to the museum’s exhibition (waterfowl and mammals living by the water) and stock collection through playful activity.
Jenő Kvassay’s name is tightly linked to the plans for the development within the Hungarian water management sector for the 2014-2020 period. As a gesture of respect, the General Directorate of Water Management established the ‘Kvassay’ Commemoration Committee in 2014. The Chairman of the Committee is Prof. Ferenc Ligetvári and the Co-Chairman is Prof. Ferenc Glatz, Academician.
Being invited by the General Directorate of Water Management, the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate entered its football team completed with two colleagues from the Water Management Directorate in Székesfehérvár. The water sector uses numerous technical terms. These terms are to be applied when addressing the wider public through announcements or our website. Present thesaurus got compiled by the Trans Tisza Water Directorate in order to make the technical terms comprehensible for the public being interested in the water sector.
