Events ArchiveDear visitors, colleagues and my friends,
It is a great honour, privilege and pleasure to welcome you on the website of South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate, as its’ director.
I have been working in the water management sector for 32 years now, and I have always admired the commitment, expertise and experience of my senior colleagues. I used to keep asking for their suggestions, opinions and they always answered my questions. My dear peers, who have and share the same "past" of similar or greater significance, we must accept, even if we don’t believe our eyes when we look into the mirror, now we are asked for advice and often we have to make decisions. With 25 years of experience at the South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate (DDVIZIG), I begin the year of 2020 and maybe the new decade with new tasks and objectives. Whether the decade starts on January 1, 2020 or 2021 is again a question to be decided, but allow me to leave this question unanswered.
Every year is started with new hopes, resolutions, plans and intentions, as Christmas and the holiday season are over, our busy everyday lives and work continue. With renewed strength and determination, I invite you all to join me and carry out the tasks of the water management sector together in a professional, accurate manner.
Since their existence, Water Management Directorates have always focused on the demands and met the expectations of society perfectly. We implement flood protection interventions and on the low-lying areas drainage control and flood damage protection tasks with humble attitude and extreme care in order to defend the assets of the population. The concept of flash flood was introduced to the water management sector and raised public awareness through experience, which was gained in the last 10-20 years, as flash floods are mostly due to high intensity rainfall on small streams and watercourses. This phenomenon is considered as a local flood damage protection task, and the local government is responsible for defence. We must have close relationship and maintain appropriate contacts with municipalities, districts and government offices on a daily basis, because the assistance and technical guidance must be immediate and we have to be just a little bit quicker than lightning.
Irrigation development is a key strategic objective for Hungary - and thus in our business as well. The assessment and possibly the promotion of irrigation are one of our most important tasks in our ??operational area.
Irrigation development, drought management and mitigation of security risks might be considered as novelty however the development of a significant drought monitoring system and network is already in progress on the operational area of South-Transdanubian Water Management Directorate (DDVIZIG).
Although only three main topics are covered here but it doesn’t mean our other activities aren’t worth to mention, but all our commitments can’t be part of this welcome message.
I invite all of you to join me. Let’s make the area of South-Transdanubia a safe territory in respect of water management.
Our mission is a good cause serving water management affairs.
